The iPhone 15 series, which was launched by Apple on September 19, 2023, has received mixed reviews from users and critics. While some praised the new features and design of the iPhone 15 models, others have reported various issues and problems with the devices, especially the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
According to some users on X (formerly Twitter), the iPhone 15 Pro models have shown signs of damage such as scratches, bumps, display misalignment, dirt on the camera lenses, bubbles and discoloured squares. Some users also claimed that the devices got too hot to hold after playing games or using intensive apps.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are built with titanium, a material that is supposed to be stronger and lighter than stainless steel frames previously used in iPhones. However, some durability tests have shown that the new curved edges are more fragile than the straight ones seen in older iPhones. In addition, the back glass of the iPhone 15 Pro Max cracked within seconds in a test done by JerryRigEverything.
Another issue that users have complained about is the fingerprint marks on the sides of the iPhone 15 Pro models. The titanium frame is supposed to resist fingerprints better than stainless steel, but some users have noticed that their devices get smudged easily.
Some users have also expressed disappointment with the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 models. While many were happy to see that Apple has finally adopted the popular I/O standard, they were dismayed to find out that only the Pro Max models have USB 3.0, which supports faster data-transfer speeds. The entry-level iPhones have USB 2.0, which is no different from Lightning technology.
Apple has not yet responded to these complaints or offered any solutions for the users. It remains to be seen whether these issues will affect the sales and reputation of the iPhone 15 series.
