Lamine Yamal is a name that every Barcelona fan should know by now. Yamal was born in Esplugues de Llobregat, Spain, to a Moroccan father and an Equatorial Guinean mother. He joined Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy at the age of seven and quickly rose through the ranks, impressing coaches and teammates with his flair and intelligence. He can play as a centre-forward, an attacking midfielder or a winger, but he prefers the right flank, where he can cut inside and unleash his powerful left foot.

Yamal made his first-team debut for Barcelona on 29 April 2023, becoming the youngest player to appear for the club at 15 years, 9 months and 16 days old. He won his first title with Barça on 14 May 2023, as part of the squad that clinched the 2022–23 La Liga. He earned his first start for the club on 20 August 2023, becoming the youngest starter for Barcelona in La Liga at 16 years and 38 days. In his next game, he was named man of the match after setting up two goals in a thrilling 4–3 win over Villarreal. At 16 years and 45 days, he became the youngest player to supply an assist in a La Liga fixture.

Yamal is also a youth international for Spain, having played for the U15, U16 and U17 teams. He scored four goals in the 2023 European U17 Championship, helping Spain reach the semi-finals. He recently made his debut for the U19 team as well.
